Experience one of Greece’s most remarkable destinations on a small group day trip from Thessaloniki to Meteora. Known for its dramatic rock formations and historic monasteries perched high above the plains, Meteora is both a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most important centers of Orthodox spirituality.

Your journey begins early in the morning with pickup from your accommodation in Thessaloniki. After approximately three hours of travel, including a short stop along the way, you will arrive in the town of Kalambaka, located directly beneath the impressive Meteora cliffs.

From there, continue to the nearby village of Kastraki and several scenic viewpoints where you can admire and photograph the extraordinary rock formations. During the visit, you will explore the Grand Meteoro Monastery, the largest of the Meteora monasteries, and visit a second monastery depending on availability.

Inside the monasteries, you will see historic frescoes, religious artifacts, and learn about the fascinating life of the monks who once lived in these secluded cliff-top sanctuaries. After the visits, enjoy some free time in Kalambaka before returning to Thessaloniki.
